Shalulile and Nku target Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns moved one step closer to the DStv Premiership points total record after defeating Royal AM 2-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Masandawana achieved their 21st win of the season and currently continues on their way with 69 points. He’s just a few steps shy of the 71-point record and the final three games of the season remain.

The champions made a confident start to the campaign, sending Aubrey Modiba’s long-range shot well past home goalkeeper Hugo Nyame.

Neo Maema beat Nyame with a flat-footed shot from the edge of the box as sunset approached.

Although it looked like the home team would survive until half-time, Peter Shalulile managed to open the scoring by using the rebound after Nyame saved Lesiba Nku’s header.

While Sundowns continued their dominance in the second half with a shot from Shalulile hitting the post, Thapelo Morena could not take advantage of an important opportunity.

The visiting team doubled the difference in the last 20 minutes and Nku was rewarded with a goal for his performance throughout the match.

Sundowns had positions to win by a larger margin, but Marcelo Allende could not convert the penalty he took in stoppage time to score high and wide. However, this did not change the result.
