Astana Extends Contract with Team Captain Rustam Murzagaliev
Astana has announced the extension of Rustam Murzagaliev’s contract, a key figure in Kazakhstani basketball. The 32-year-old veteran point guard has been a standout in the VTB United League and the Kazakhstan Championship. The new agreement allows Murzagaliev to continue wearing the Astana jersey for two more seasons, marking his 13th season with the club.
In the 2023/2024 season, Murzagaliev averaged 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Kazakhstan Cup in 2023 and led the Kazakhstan National League in three-point shooting during the same season.
Throughout his career at Astana, Murzagaliev has appeared in 193 games, averaging 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.4 steals.
