Attila Molnár won the 400m race at the Ostrava Athletics Golden Meeting on Tuesday, recording a time of 45.08 seconds—the best time in the world this year. The 23-year-old Hungarian sprinter came just three-hundredths of a second short of the European record, further solidifying his position as a top contender for the European Championship.
Following his victory in Belgrade, Molnár secured his second win in the prestigious Golden series of the Indoor Tour. Maintaining the momentum he gained early in the race, he left his competitors behind. No one in the world has run the 400m faster than him this year! Moreover, he came very close to the European record set by Norwegian Karsten Warholm in 2019.
With this impressive performance, Molnár has gained a significant advantage ahead of the European Indoor Championships, set to take place in Apeldoorn from March 6-9, and the World Indoor Championships in China shortly after.
Meanwhile, Patrik Enyingi, who is also in excellent form, improved his personal best in long-distance running with a time of 46.19 seconds, securing third place and qualifying for the European Indoor Championships.
