Dudova Claims Bronze After a Thrilling Match

Bilyana Dudova Wins Bronze at the European Championships!

One of the stars of women’s wrestling, Bilyana Dudova, claimed a bronze medal at the European Championships held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Competing in the 62 kg category, Dudova defeated her Russian opponent Alina Kasabieva in a thrilling match with a score of 4-3.

Dudova started the bout strong, taking a 1-0 lead after Kasabieva received a passivity warning. The first period ended with this score. In the second period, Kasabieva came out aggressively and turned the match around to lead 3-1. However, Dudova did not give up — she first leveled the score and then secured the win in the final seconds, as the Russian team’s challenge was unsuccessful. The match ended 4-3 in Dudova’s favor, earning her the bronze medal.

To reach the bronze medal match, Dudova had already delivered an impressive performance in the repechage round against Hungarian star Nicolette Szabo. Facing the world and four-time European champion, Dudova dominated the first period with a 5-1 lead. After a brief stoppage due to an accidental eye contact from Szabo, Dudova maintained her momentum and achieved an 11-1 technical superiority, ending the match with 35 seconds remaining.

This remarkable achievement was made possible thanks in large part to the support of her coach Miroslav Gochev and assistant Stoyan Petkov. With this medal, Bilyana Dudova adds yet another accomplishment to her outstanding career.
