Eva Lys Overcomes Opening Hurdle in Dubai
German tennis player Eva Lys staged a comeback to advance to the second round of the WTA tournament in Dubai.
The 23-year-old athlete from Hamburg defeated experienced Romanian player Irina-Camelia Begu with set scores of 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 in the opening match. Previously ranked as high as No. 87 in the world, Lys successfully navigated the qualifying rounds to secure a spot in the main draw.

Following her strong performance at the Australian Open in Linz, Lys claimed her first main draw victory, bouncing back from a recent opening-round defeat. She now faces a tough challenge in Dubai against Italian player Jasmine Paolini, a two-time Grand Slam finalist.
Last month, Lys made a surprise run to the Round of 16 at the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, where she was ultimately defeated by world No. 2 Iga Swiatek.
