The Final Chapter: Haji Aliyev Retires from Wrestling
Azerbaijan’s legendary freestyle wrestler, Haji Aliyev (65 kg), has announced his retirement from the sport.
Aliyev shared the news on his social media account, stating, “This is the end!” as he bid farewell to the wrestling world.
In his post, he wrote, “My dear people, for years I have achieved many victories, and it was a great honor for me to raise our flag to the highest heights and to hear our National Anthem. These victories were not just mine, but the victories of the Azerbaijani people. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me until now.”
The 33-year-old wrestler has claimed 3 World Championships and 4 European Championships in his career. Additionally, he is an Olympic silver and bronze medalist, leaving a lasting legacy in the sport.
