India’s Tennis Stars Serve Up Hope for Olympic Glory in Paris 2024!

India’s Tennis Prospects Shine with Three Athletes at Paris 2024 Olympics

India will be represented by three tennis players at the 2024 Paris Olympics, raising hopes for a medal. Sumit Nagal’s recent career-high ranking has sparked optimism for a podium finish.

Paris 2024 Olympics: New Hopes for India’s Medal Count

The Paris 2024 Olympics will begin on August 26 in France’s capital. There is considerable optimism that India’s medal count will reach double digits this time. The Sports Ministry has approved India’s delegation of 117 athletes, accompanied by 140 support staff and officials. Expectations are high for India to secure a medal in tennis. Historically, India has won only one Olympic tennis medal, when Leander Paes claimed bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Since then, no Indian tennis player has medaled at the Olympics.

Sumit Nagal Aiming for a Medal

Sumit Nagal will compete in men’s singles tennis at the Paris Olympics and is a strong medal contender. Rohan Bopanna and Shriram Balaji will compete in men’s doubles. Nagal has been in excellent form, winning his first match at the Nordea Open in impressive style and reaching the quarter-finals. He has achieved a career-best ranking of 68. Given his current form, hopes for a medal are high.

Rohan Bopanna’s Final Olympic Push

At 44 years old, Rohan Bopanna is in the final stage of his career, and this may be his last Olympics. Despite his age, Bopanna’s performance has not waned. In 2024, he won the Australian Open men’s doubles title. He also claimed the mixed doubles title at the French Open in 2017. With such a distinguished career, Bopanna aims to add an Olympic medal to his accolades. His partner, 34-year-old Shriram Balaji, won a gold medal in mixed doubles at the 2019 South Asian Games.
