Kazakhstan Seals Victory in Three Minutes and Advances to the Asian Winter Games Final
The Kazakhstan Men’s Ice Hockey Team has advanced to the final of the Asian Winter Games, held in Harbin, China.
Oleg Bolyakin’s squad faced the host nation, China, in the semifinals. The match remained goalless for a long time until the end of the first period when Roman Starchenko sent the puck past 19-year-old Chinese goalkeeper Shi Feng Chen, putting Kazakhstan in the lead.
At the start of the second period, just 13 seconds in, Dmitry Grents doubled the lead, making it 2-0 for Kazakhstan.
China responded in the final minutes of the third period when Jin Wang scored in the 59th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1. However, Kazakhstan had the final say, as Dmitry Breus secured a 3-1 victory with a last-minute goal, ensuring his team’s place in the final.
Kazakhstan’s opponent in the final will be determined after today’s (February 13) match between South Korea and Japan.
