Julian Weber Cautious After 90-Meter Throw: “It Won’t Happen Every Time”
Javelin thrower Julian Weber surpassed the 90-meter mark for the first time in his career, but the German athlete remains cautious, saying that consistent throws at this level shouldn’t be expected.
The European champion set a personal best and won the competition last Friday in Doha with a throw of 91.06 meters. “I had been waiting for this moment for a long time,” Weber said, expressing the joy of finally achieving a goal he had been chasing for years. “I don’t want to be overly dramatic, but after all these years and all the pain, it really was something special,” he added.

In Doha, Weber engaged in a fierce contest with Indian star Neeraj Chopra. “I had already built a strong series. I knew that if I executed the throw a little better, I could do something great. To deliver exactly what I envisioned on my final attempt was amazing,” he said.
However, the accomplished athlete emphasized that such high-level performances shouldn’t be expected regularly: “I hope no one expects 90-meter throws from me at every competition. I really hope people can put this into perspective.”
Julian Weber now looks forward to focusing fully on preparations for the World Athletics Championships, which will take place in Tokyo on September 13.
