Panna Udvardy has reached the quarterfinals at the women’s clay-court challenger tournament in Cali, Colombia, which features a total prize pool of $115,000 (38.5 million forints).
Ranked 108th in the world, the Hungarian player—who also made the final eight last week in Florianópolis, Brazil—defeated Colombian wild card Yuliana Lizarazo in straight sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in front of the home crowd on Wednesday. The match lasted nearly two hours.
The 27-year-old Udvardy will face seventh-seeded Varvara Lepchenko of the United States, ranked 154th, in Thursday evening’s quarterfinal.
