Paris 2024: Judo Successes and Fencing Challenges

The Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, are underway, with judoka Murodjon Yuldoshev and Shukurjon Aminova showcasing their impressive performances. Meanwhile, fencer Zaynab Dayibekova faced a setback.

On July 29, in the men’s -73 kg judo competition, Murodjon Yuldoshev won his first match against Kazakhstani competitor Daniyar Shamshayev. With this victory, he earned the right to face the winner of the match between Jack Yonezuka (USA) and Adil Osmanov (Moldova) in the next round. Born in 1995, Yuldoshev had previously won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships.

On the same day, in the women’s -57 kg judo category, Shukurjon Aminova advanced to the next stage by defeating Dabonne from Ivory Coast. Aminova will now compete against Eteri Liparteliani from Georgia. Born in 2002, Aminova has achieved numerous international successes, including a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships and several medals in Grand Prix events and Asian Championships. She secured a quota for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the -57 kg category.

However, fencer Zaynab Dayibekova competed in the women’s saber category against South Korea’s Yun Ji. In a challenging match, Dayibekova was defeated 15-11, ending her Olympic journey. The Asian Games champion and “Shuhrat” medalist Dayibekova had been selected as one of Uzbekistan’s flag bearers at Paris 2024.
