Azerbaijani National Volleyball Player Polina Rahimova: “I Am Very Happy That I Can Perform Well in Important Matches”
Azerbaijani national volleyball player Polina Rahimova shared her thoughts with the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation’s press service after winning the Brazil Cup.
Emphasizing that this was the second trophy they won this season, Rahimova expressed her feelings:
“This is the second trophy I have won with Osasco this year. We had previously won the Paulista Cup, and now we have claimed the Brazil Cup. In the final, we defeated my former club, Sesi Bauru, 3-1. It was a very intense, tough, and exciting match. In the playoffs, we beat last season’s champions, Minas, 3-2. At the beginning of the season, I wasn’t part of the main squad, but I played in the playoffs and finals because some players were not performing as expected. I am very happy that I can perform well in such important matches.”
“The Final Match Was Very Tough”
Sharing her thoughts on the final, the experienced player emphasized the great effort she and her teammates put into the match:
“When I wasn’t playing, I worked hard on myself, and I believe that’s why I was in good shape. The final match was very challenging. I congratulate all my teammates because everyone did their best. During the match, our setter got injured, and we had to continue with our second setter. Even though she had played less with us, she delivered a great performance. We played well as a team, and I am very happy. I congratulate my team once again.”
“I Closely Follow the Azerbaijani Championship”
Rahimova mentioned that she closely follows Azerbaijani volleyball and keeps up with developments in the sport:
“I frequently watch the Azerbaijani Championship and other leagues, following their results closely. This season, I have been keeping an eye on the clubs competing in the Azerbaijani Championship. There are many foreign players in the league this year. I know some of them because we have either played together before or faced each other as opponents. I am proud that they have chosen Azerbaijan. Today, the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation is carrying out several initiatives to develop volleyball in the country.”
“I Haven’t Decided on the National Team Yet”
The 34-year-old volleyball player responded to questions about her future with the national team:
“At this moment, I cannot say whether I will be part of the national team or not. Right now, I am focused on my club’s upcoming matches. I hope that all my teammates can complete the season without injuries or any problems. The competitions here are quite intense and exhausting. Once the championship is over, I plan to take some rest and then make my decision.”
“We Have the Strength to Win the Islamic Solidarity Games”
Polina Rahimova also shared her thoughts on the tournaments that the Azerbaijani national team will participate in:
“Our national team will compete in the Golden European League and the Islamic Solidarity Games this year. I believe we have the potential to win a medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games, and we might even become champions. We are strong enough to achieve this. We can also deliver a successful performance in the Golden European League.”
Meanwhile, Rahimova’s team, Osasco, secured the Brazil Cup title by defeating Cesi Bauru 3-1 in the final.
