Gallas: “Modric became a legend through hard work”
French football legend William Gallas spoke to the Hungarian press, sharing his thoughts on a wide range of topics—from Formula 1 and former teammates to Luka Modric and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Having attended the Monaco Grand Prix, Gallas named Lewis Hamilton as his favorite driver. He also took part in Djibril Cissé’s testimonial match in Auxerre, where he reunited with stars like Henry, Drogba, and Makélélé. “We always fought for each other in the national team,” said the former defender.
Speaking about his former Tottenham teammate Luka Modric and his career at Real Madrid, Gallas said: “I never imagined he’d win the Ballon d’Or, but he became a legend through hard work.”
He also evaluated Kylian Mbappé’s first season at Real Madrid: “He performed well despite the pressure, a new system, and playing in a different position. He even won the Golden Boot.”
Regarding Szoboszlai—who became the first Hungarian to win the Premier League—Gallas praised his work ethic: “He reached his goal through hard work. He’s a great example for young players.”
