PV Sindhu Aims to End Title Drought at Malaysia Masters Ahead of Olympics
Ahead of the Paris Olympics, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will lead India at the Malaysia Masters starting on Tuesday. The former world champion, having skipped the Uber Cup and Thailand Open, is now focused on advancing further in the women’s singles draw of the BWF World Tour Super 500 event.
The 28-year-old Sindhu has struggled to return to her best form since recovering from a knee injury she sustained in October last year. Sindhu, who won the Malaysia Masters titles in 2013 and 2016, is seeded fifth in the women’s singles and will face Scotland’s world No. 22 Kirsty Gilmour on Wednesday. This will be her ninth tournament of the year, having returned from injury at the Badminton Asia Team Championships in February. Her last title came at the 2022 Singapore Open.
