Turkish Consortium Led by Ali Koç Steps In for Levski

Turkish Consortium’s Interest in Levski Is Growing

One of Bulgaria’s most historic football clubs, Levski Sofia, has recently become the focus of attention from Turkish investors. According to a report by topsport.bg, a powerful Turkish consortium may decide to begin negotiations to acquire a majority stake in the club.

Reportedly, Ali Koç, a businessman representing one of the most influential families in southern Bulgaria, is exploring the possibility of purchasing Levski. The 58-year-old entrepreneur is said to have significant business experience and, about three weeks ago, sent two representatives to Sofia to hold meetings regarding the club’s current situation and management structure.

It was also noted that Koç is no stranger to football. The experienced businessman led Fenerbahçe Sports Club between 2018 and 2024 and later lost the subsequent presidential election.

Considering Levski’s recent financial difficulties, the interest from Turkish investors is viewed positively within the club’s circles. However, no official offer or agreement has been announced yet.

If this potential investment materializes, Levski is expected to gain financial stability, and the influence of Turkish capital in Balkan football could further increase.
