Florida Panthers Secure First-Ever Stanley Cup Victory Against Edmonton Oilers

The Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup for the first time in their history by defeating Edmonton. The decisive Game 7 of the NHL playoff final series concluded in Sunrise, USA.

The crucial match ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of Florida. Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart scored for the winning team, while Matthias Janmark netted the lone goal for Edmonton.

In this match, Florida’s Russian defenseman Dmitry Kulikov provided an assist, and his teammate and fellow countryman Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 23 shots on goal. This was the first Stanley Cup for both the Russians and the team itself. Forward Vladimir Tarasenko won the cup for the second time, having first won it in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues. Russian hockey players have now won the Stanley Cup for nine consecutive seasons.

For the first time since 2003, the best player of the playoffs, despite being on the losing team in the final, was Edmonton captain Connor McDavid.
