New Stars, Big Goals: India in Paris!

India’s Medal Aspirations at the Paris 2024 Olympics: Will the Tokyo Success Be Surpassed?

The world’s largest sporting event, the Olympic Games, is set to take place from July 26 to August 11 in Paris. India is sending a large contingent of 117 athletes to this prestigious event. The big question on everyone’s mind is how many medals India will win this time.

A significant portion of the Indian team will compete in three major sports: athletics (29 athletes), shooting (21 athletes), and hockey (19 athletes). Of the 69 athletes in these categories, 40 are making their Olympic debut, highlighting the emergence of young talent in the team.

In its Olympic history, India has won a total of 35 medals, with only two athletes securing individual gold medals: Abhinav Bindra in 2008 and Neeraj Chopra in 2021. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, India achieved its best performance to date, winning a total of 7 medals. Now, at Paris 2024, the goal is to surpass this achievement and reach a double-digit medal count.

India’s performance this year will be a crucial test in surpassing the success of Tokyo. The country’s athletes are aiming to increase the medal tally, set new records, and bring immense pride to their nation.
