Shevchenko: “We Haven’t Had Any Talks with Rebrov About Panathinaikos”
President of the Ukrainian Football Association, Andriy Shevchenko, clarified the confusion caused by ongoing reports about Panathinaikos’ interest in Ukrainian coach Serhiy Rebrov during an interview with a local media outlet.
Although Panathinaikos’ interest in Rebrov had been on the agenda for some time, the experienced coach’s commitment to the Ukrainian national team eventually cooled the discussions.
In an interview with Ukraine’s leading sports outlet Champion, Shevchenko was asked whether Rebrov was considering leaving the national team to join the Greek side, and he gave a clear response.
The 49-year-old president emphasized that the federation has full confidence in Rebrov and that everyone’s focus is on the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, stressing that there has never been any talk or consideration regarding Panathinaikos.
“We believe in our coach. He has great motivation to work with the national team. He has already partially answered this question himself. We’ve never had any thoughts or discussions about this matter because we are all focused on the qualification stage,” said Shevchenko.
