Paris 2024: Uzbekistan’s Pride, the National Boxing Team
With just 8 days left until the start of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Uzbekistan is set to compete with its top-notch boxing team, reigning supreme in Asia. The country’s decorated boxers are ready to add new victories to their storied careers at this prestigious tournament.
Men’s Team:
Marufjan Dostmatov: Born on June 24, 1993, in Andijan, Marufjan is the son of Hasanboy Dostmatov. He is the 2016 Rio Olympic champion, a two-time world champion, and a three-time Asian champion.
Anvar Halokov: Born on April 9, 2000, in Bukhara, Anvar is the son of Abduma’li Halokov. He is a world and Asian champion and a youth Olympic Games winner.
Ruslan Abdullayev: Born in 2002 in Amudarya, Karakalpakstan, Ruslan is the 2023 world champion, the 2022 Asian champion, and the 2021 Uzbekistan champion.
Asadkhoja Moydinkhojayev: Born on May 8, 2001, in Rishton, Fergana, Asadkhoja won a gold medal at the 2023 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan.
Torabek Habibullayev: Born on April 9, 2004, in Tashkent, Torabek is the 2022 World Cup champion.
Lazizbek Mullajonov: Born on May 13, 1999, in Fergana, Lazizbek has a bronze medal from the World Championships and a gold medal from the Asian Championships.
Bahadir Jalolov: Born on July 8, 1994, in Sariosiyo, Surxondaryo, Bahadir is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion and a multiple-time Asian and world champion.
Women’s Team:
Sabina Bobokulova: Born on July 29, 2003, in Olot, Bukhara, Sabina won gold medals at the 2019 Junior and 2021 Asian Championships in Dubai, as well as the 2022 Tashkent and 2023 Bangkok U22 Championships.
Nigina Oktamova: Born in 2003 in Ishtikhon, Samarkand, Nigina won a gold medal at the 2021 World Junior Championships in Poland. She has also been a continental champion in multiple age categories and was named “Young Athlete of the Year” in Uzbekistan in 2021.
Sitora Turdibekova: Born on May 20, 2002, in Bulungur, Samarkand, Sitora won a gold medal at the 2021 Asian Senior Championships, a bronze medal at the 2022 U-22 Continental Championships in Tashkent, and a silver medal at the 2023 Bangkok Championships.
Navbahor Hamidova: Born on February 7, 2001, Navbahor won gold medals at the 2022 Asian Senior Championships in Jordan and the 2023 U-22 Asian Championships in Thailand. She also won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships in India.
The Uzbekistan national boxing team ranks second globally in license accumulation, participating in 11 weight categories for the prestigious four-year event. This result places the Uzbekistan national team at the top of the Asian continent.
